Lit-Off Desarrollo
Polyester PET / TT3 MS PET 75

Ref. 7879EJ

Matt silver PET film 81 µm, thicker than standard PET, with a matt finish that eliminates glare in automatic readers. UL certification included. When the automotive component may come into contact with brake fluid, the 350E adhesive holds without failing. A straightforward material for certified identification in automotive and electronics.

TT3 MS PET 75 · 350E · 90DWG — Matt silver PET film

UL · Brake fluid · TTR · Automotive and electronics

PET film 81 µm · Matt silver finish

Metallised PET film with matt finish. 81 µm — thicker than standard 50 µm PET. The matt finish reduces glare in automatic readers and gives a more neutral look than gloss metallised film.

Brake fluid resistance / permanent 350E adhesive

The 350E 46 µm acrylic adhesive holds its bond during prolonged contact with brake fluid. The label does not lift or lose legibility on brake system components.

UL certification

UL-certified material. Check that the UL file number matches your project requirement before production. Consult our technical team.

TTR resin printing / Lit-Off ribbon

Use a resin or wax-resin ribbon compatible with metallised PET for the best image quality and durability. If you need a compatible ribbon, contact us — we supply that too.

Why this material

Why the matt silver finish and brake fluid resistance make this PET the reference for automotive component identification

The problem: labels on brake system parts with a UL requirement

Brake system components — cylinders, callipers, reservoirs — need permanent identification that withstands contact with brake fluid. Most adhesives cannot withstand DOT 3/4 and the label ends up lifting or unreadable. If the project also calls for UL certification, the combined requirements narrow the available options considerably.

Ref. 7879EJ meets both requirements in a single construction.

Matt silver vs. gloss platinum: when the finish matters

The matt finish is not just cosmetic: on automated production lines with barcode readers, the matt background reduces the specular glare that can cause failed reads. For components that will sit in high-temperature areas or low direct light, matt gives more consistent results than gloss.

The 81 µm thickness — compared with 50–53 µm for standard PET — adds stiffness and tear resistance during component assembly on the line.

Key advantage

PET 81 µm · Matt silver · Brake fluid

50–53 µm PET films are sufficient for standard industrial labelling. The 7879EJ delivers 81 µm, a 50% increase in thickness, with a matt finish that eliminates glare in automatic readers, brake fluid resistance from the 350E adhesive, and UL certification. The combination built for automotive use when the component will be in contact with aggressive hydraulic circuit fluids.

Check the UL file number with our technical team before production. For full adhesion data, see the PDF data sheet.

Before you order

What you should know

The material carries UL certification. Before closing the order, check that the UL file number matches exactly what your project or customer requires. Request it from our technical team if you need it.

For TTR printing on metallised PET, use a compatible resin or wax-resin ribbon. Wax ribbon does not give consistent results on this substrate. If you need a compatible ribbon, contact us — we supply that too.

As always, we recommend validating the material under real process conditions — especially in contact with the specific fluid — before starting production.
