Ref. 747
Multilayer biaxially oriented HDPE film, 150 µm, with direct food contact certification. 88% opacity covers the substrate without show-through; cross-direction tear resistance exceeds 16,000 mN — enough for the label to stay intact under tension or heavy handling. The choice when the food label must stay intact and the project needs to demonstrate suitability for direct contact. Face material without adhesive: must be combined with adhesive and release liner according to the application surface.
Face material without adhesive · Multilayer biaxially oriented HDPE · Opacity >88% · Food-safe · TTR wax-resin or resin
When is this material right for you?
The label goes on food packaging and regulations require a material certified for direct food contact
The label must stay intact under tension, handling or in environments with a risk of accidental tearing
A smooth surface is needed with print quality comparable to paper, compatible with TTR and conventional methods
The label must fully cover the substrate without letting light through: 88% opacity eliminates show-through on packaging, lids or coloured surfaces
This is a face material without adhesive. To build a complete self-adhesive label, it must be combined with the adhesive and release liner suited to the application. Contact us.
How to choose well
This material versus other white PE options
The PE ECO 150µm stands out for combining very high mechanical strength with food-contact certification. Cross-direction tear resistance exceeds 16,000 mN, making it a solid option against conventional PE films when label integrity under tension is a requirement.
If the main use does not require food-contact certification and the application is limited to standard industrial labelling, lower-cost PE constructions with sufficient performance are available. Ref. 747 earns its keep when both requirements — mechanical strength and food-contact suitability — must be met at the same time.
The corona treatment has a shelf life of approximately 6 months from the material's manufacture. After that period, ink adhesion may be compromised if the material has not been processed. It is worth factoring in this shelf life when planning stock and production schedules.

TTR printing and conventional methods
Use wax-resin or resin ribbon for TTR. Also supports flexo, screen printing, offset and colour inkjet with inks specific to non-absorbent surfaces. Laser printing is not compatible with this material.
Corona treatment and shelf life
Both sides are corona-treated to improve ink adhesion. The treatment lasts approximately 6 months from manufacture. Manage stock with this shelf life in mind.

What you should know
Ref. 747 is supplied as a face material without adhesive. To use it as a self-adhesive label, this film must be combined with the right adhesive and release liner. If you need advice choosing the complete construction for your application and surface, contact us before starting production.
The corona treatment lasts approximately 6 months from manufacture. If the material has been in storage for a while, check the manufacture date before processing: poor ink adhesion can be a symptom of degraded corona treatment, not a printer or ribbon problem.
For use in direct food contact, you need the material's Declaration of Conformity (DoC). This document is available on request and is independent of the material order. Contact us when ordering a sample or a quote and we will arrange it through our technical team.
Frequently asked questions before production
Can I use this material directly as a label?
Not without adhesive. Ref. 747 is the face material. To turn it into a self-adhesive label, it needs to be laminated with adhesive and release liner. Tell us the surface and conditions of use and we will help you define the complete construction.
Which ribbon works best with this material?
Wax-resin for the best result. Pure resin is also valid. Laser not compatible. Always use inks specific to non-absorbent surfaces if printing with conventional methods.
How do I get food-contact certification?
The Declaration of Conformity is available on request. Let us know when ordering a sample or a quote and we will arrange it through our technical team.
