Ref. FH21
A top coated BP Free thermal paper for direct printing with no ribbon. Free of bisphenol A, ISEGA-approved for indirect food contact and FSC Mix Credit certified — three requirements that often coincide in food, pharma and distribution projects with sustainability criteria. The FH21 rubber hotmelt adhesive delivers high initial tack on most surfaces; for low-energy PE/PP or intense cold, it's worth testing first.

When is this the right material?
The labelling process uses direct thermal printing and you don't want to manage ribbon stock or cost
Regulations or the customer require ISEGA approval for indirect food contact in the labelling
The specification requires a BP Free paper free of bisphenol A to meet regulatory restrictions in food or pharma
The project or distribution chain needs to demonstrate FSC Mix Credit certification on the labelling materials
For direct food contact, check with our technical team before specifying. ISEGA approval covers indirect contact.
How to choose correctly
This material against other direct thermal options
The ISEGA + BP Free + FSC Mix Credit combination is what makes this construction unique among direct thermal materials. If the project only needs one of those three requirements, there may be options with a tighter cost; but when all three are needed simultaneously — which happens often in food or pharma with a sustainability policy — Ref. FH21 covers them with a single material.
The FH21 rubber hotmelt adhesive has high initial tack on a wide variety of surfaces. On low surface-energy surfaces (certain polyethylenes or polypropylenes), very cold surfaces or those with oil contamination, performance may be lower: in those cases it's worth running a test before starting production or checking whether a more suitable adhesive variant exists.
The printing technology is direct thermal: it doesn't require ribbon, which simplifies the process and reduces inventory. The printed image isn't as resistant to abrasion or heat as one produced with TTR, but for short- or medium-term labels in food or retail it's more than enough.
Before specifying
Food contact
ISEGA approves indirect contact. If the label touches the food directly, check specific requirements before starting production.
Print durability
Direct thermal
For long-life labels or exposure to heat and abrasion, consider TTR. Direct thermal is suitable for short- to medium-term use.
Low-energy surfaces
The rubber hotmelt may perform worse on PE/PP or in the cold. Verify with a test before starting production.
