Green polyester · Silicone adhesive · Powder coating · Cataphoresis · Anodizing · Circuit boards · Clean removal

When is this the right tape?

Powder coating

Mask threads, holes and contact surfaces before painting and oven curing

Cataphoresis and anodizing

Protect the areas that must not be coated in cataphoresis (e-coat) and anodizing

Electronics

Masking of printed circuit boards, with protection against chemicals and splashes

Clean removal

Designed to be removed without leaving adhesive residue on the part

Always validate the tape on your actual part and in your real cycle (temperature and time) before starting production.

Why Ref. 2560

The masking tape with a 25 µm film

On a powder coating or cataphoresis line, there are areas of the part that must not be coated: threads, holes, electrical contact or fitting surfaces. Ref. 2560 is a tape with a 25 µm green polyester film and silicone adhesive, designed to cover them during the process and to be removed afterwards without leaving adhesive residue.

The silicone adhesive is what allows it to go through the oven: the data sheet gives a maximum temperature of 200 °C. It has very good initial tack, so it adheres from the first contact, and it protects the surface from chemicals and splashes. Besides powder coating, it is used in cataphoresis, anodizing and masking of printed circuit boards.

At 0.060 mm in total, it is the thinner of the two polyester tapes. Ref. 3565 has a thicker film (36 µm), more adhesion and reaches 210 °C. If your process exceeds those temperatures, see Ref. 4201, a polyimide tape.

Frequently asked questions

What is Ref. 2560 used for?

To mask the areas of a part that must not be coated during powder coating, cataphoresis, anodizing and printed circuit board processes. It is removed afterwards without leaving adhesive residue and protects the surface from chemicals and splashes.

What temperature does it withstand?

The data sheet gives a maximum temperature of 200 °C. It does not give an exposure time, so it is advisable to test it in your actual curing cycle, with your temperature and your time, before production.

Does it leave adhesive residue when removed?

It is designed to be removed without leaving residual adhesive. It has a 0.035 mm silicone adhesive with very good initial tack.

What is the difference between Ref. 2560 and Ref. 3565?

Both are green polyester with silicone adhesive. Ref. 3565 has a thicker film (36 µm versus 25 µm), more steel adhesion (≥ 600 versus ≥ 520 g/25 mm), more dielectric strength (6 versus 4 kV) and reaches 210 °C instead of 200 °C.

What format is it supplied in?

In 66 m rolls. The width is adapted to your application: tell us when requesting the sample.

Do you need to validate this tape?

Tell us the process, the curing temperature and time, and the areas to be protected. We will send you a sample to test on your actual part.
