Always validate the tape on your actual part and in your real cycle (temperature and time) before starting production.

Why Ref. 4201

When polyester is not enough

Ref. 4201 is a 25 µm amber polyimide film tape with silicone adhesive. Polyimide is the film used when the tape has to withstand temperatures above those of polyester and, at the same time, provide electrical insulation: its thermal class is 180 °C, it allows continuous exposure at that temperature and it withstands up to 280 °C without leaving residue.

According to the data sheet, it has excellent chemical and thermal resistance, high corrosion resistance and excellent electrical insulation, with a dielectric strength of 5000 V or more. It is used in electronics, for thermal and chemical protection, and as insulating tape in the manufacture of transformers, traction motors, generators and lithium batteries.

It is supplied in 33 m rolls and in widths from 2 mm, according to the customer's specification. For masking in powder coating, cataphoresis or anodizing, the reference tapes are the polyester ones with silicone adhesive, Ref. 2560 and Ref. 3565; if your cycle exceeds 200-210 °C, let us know and we will assess Ref. 4201 with a sample.
